Job Description

Junior Project Engineer | £26,000–£28,000 | Heywood

Looking for a role where you won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day?

This is a rare chance to get stuck into real-world engineering projects while learning on the job from people who’ve been there, done it and, in some cases, worked their way right up through the business.

Whether you’re fresh out of college, recently graduated, or just keen to build a long-term career in engineering, this could be a solid first step.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting live engineering projects from planning to delivery

  • Helping update project plans, schedules and documentation

  • Assisting with design work, drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

  • Getting involved in purchasing, stock control and goods-in

  • Visiting suppliers and customer sites as needed, both UK and overseas

What’s in it for you:

  • £25,000–£28,000 salary depending on experience

  • Permanent role based at Baldwin Technical’s site in Heywood

  • Full training and mentoring from experienced engineers

  • Involvement in a wide range of projects, not just one small corner

  • Travel opportunities and real responsibility as you develop

You’ll need:

  • A qualification in engineering, industrial design or a related technical subject (HNC/HND or degree-level)

  • A full UK driving licence and valid passport

  • Good communication skills and a willingness to muck in

  • Some basic understanding of engineering drawings and principles

  • A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in how things are built

Experience with BOMs, purchasing or design software would be a bonus, but isn't a must.

About the Company:

Baldwin Technical Services is a growing electrical and mechanical engineering business based in Heywood. They build and deliver complex systems for food and drink manufacturers across the UK and abroad. One of their directors started here as an apprentice, so if you’re looking for a long-term path with real backing, you’ll be in good company.

Interested?

No need for a glossy four-page CV. Just a short overview of your qualifications, work history and a few key achievements will do the trick.

So you're aware, your application will be reviewed directly by the hiring manager.
